The controversy over the trainee doctor rape-murder case at RG Kar Medical College does not seem to end. On Tuesday, a student union organized Nabanna Abhijan rally. This rally was demanding the resignation of Mamata government. Along with this, the student union says that the victim should get justice at all costs and the culprit should be given death penalty.

BJP has called for a Bengal bandh today after clashes between Kolkata Police and protesters during a ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ rally on 27th August. West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar stated that the bandh became necessary in response to “autocratic regime” of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of ignoring public’s demand for justice.

He said: “This morning, I left my house to reach Arjun Singh’ residence at around 8.15 am. Just 3 minutes after leaving the house, road was blocked by the jetting machine. Around 50-60 people targeted my vehicle and they also hurled bombs. After that, 6-7 rounds of bullets were also fired.

BJP’s Priyangu Pandey revealed that bombs were thrown at his car and then 6-7 rounds of firing were done.
