An FIR under IPC 376 (r…e) was registered against Malayalam actor and ruling CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh at Maradu police station in Kochi city on Wednesday night.
Actress Minu Muneer revealed that the abuse had caused her to leave Mollywood and relocate to Chennai. Denying all allegations Mukesh said that Muneer had tried to blackmail him and termed the case as politically motivated.
Minu Muneer had accused actors Mukesh M, Maniyanpilla Raju, Jayasurya, and Idavela Babu of verbal and physical abuse during their work together on the movies.

After the allegation by the actress, Ranjith had resigned from his post as chairman of the state-run Kerala Chalachitra Academy.
Sidhique had also resigned as general secretary of AMMA following the allegations against him. Justice Hema Committee was constituted by Kerala govt after the 2017 actress assault case and its report revealed instances of harassment and exploitation of women in Mollywood.
