Another Attack on Asaduddin Owaisi’s House: What Did the Hyderabad MP Say?

Another Attack on Asaduddin Owaisi's House: What Did the Hyderabad MP Say?

This time again, an attack has been made on the residence of MIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi in Delhi. Some unknown persons have attacked the residence of Owaisi, smearing black ink on the same and pasting posters. Receiving the information, the police reached Owaisi’s residence and cleaned off the ink. The police stationed themselves in front of the house for security.

The attack has drawn considerable attention, especially given the recent controversy over Owaisi’s statement of “Jai Palestine” during his oath-taking in the Lok Sabha. Many, including BJP leaders, said that Owaisi has shown allegiance to another country in the Indian Parliament. Angry over this, Bajrang Dal activists pasted posters on his residence and shouted slogans against him in protest.

There were heavy reactions from Asaduddin Owaisi, who took to social media against these developments outside his house in Delhi. He is now saying that all of these repeated attacks on his residence have happened under the supervision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Owaisi asked Speaker Om Birla if there was any guarantee of safety for MPs. He issued a stern warning to the elements responsible for attacking his house and asserted that such acts will not cow him down and asked them to stop such behaviour of cowardice. Owaisi challenged those behind the attack to confront him directly rather than throwing stones and smearing ink.

This incident has become a talking point in the national capital. Incidentally, a similar attack had taken place last August when two windows were broken at Owaisi’s Delhi residence. Owaisi said he was frustrated because attacks on his house have been almost a routine now “every time I raise any serious issue in the Parliament”. There have been calls for his disqualification from Parliament, with several individuals writing letters to the President, following which BJP leaders have already lodged a complaint with the Speaker.
