AP CID has uncovered a massive liquor scam during the tenure of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, revealing widespread corruption and misuse of power in Andhra Pradesh’ liquor industry.

CID found that thousands of crores were extorted in purchase orders of liquor during Jagan Mohan Reddy’ rule. The investigation concluded that more than 90 % of the purchase orders were tied to the liquor supply companies who were close to the then government officials and their benemies, who paid specified commissions. The CID has come to the conclusion that the basic price paid for the liquor purchased from those supply companies has been increased by an arbitrary amount and has caused undue profit.

The officials conducted extensive inspections in the Beverages Corporation, Distilleries and Breweries sections of Vijayawada Prasadhampadu. All the records related to the purchase orders issued by Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited, the basic price finalized to them, the bills paid to them, etc., were thoroughly examined in the last 5 years. Thus, the authorities identified the manner of the massive corruption.

MP Mithun Reddy, the son of Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who is number 2 in the YSRCP government, has kept SPY Agro Industries in Nandyal under his control. CID’s investigation revealed that J Brands were produced from there and most of the supply orders were received for liquor manufactured here. It found that Adan Distilleries Private Limited was formed after the YSRCP came to power, which was a benami company of Rohit Reddy, the son-in-law of that party’s MP Vijayasai Reddy.
