Apple sends fresh spyware threat alert to iPhone users


 Tech giant Apple has alerted iPhone users in at least 98 countries including India about a possible new mercenary spyware attack like ‘Pegasus’. A new warning has been issued.

According to Apple’s warning, it has detected that “you are being targeted by the mercenary spyware attack that is trying to remotely hack your Apple ID linked iPhone”. In the warning, the iPhone maker added that the attack “might be targeting you specifically because of who you are or who you are”.

In  the month  of October last year, the US-based technology company had sent a similar warning to users in India. In April this year, the tech giant sent out threat notifications to select users in 92 countries, including India, who may have been targeted using ‘spyware for hire’ like NSO Group’s Pegasus. Since 2021, the company has sent threat alerts several times over the year after detecting these attacks. Recently, the Indian government warned the Apple users in India about several vulnerabilities in the devices.
