Young hero Raj Tarun of Tollywood has been seeing tough times lately in his personal life but is not shying away from the silver screen. Though his last few films like “Tiragabadara Sami” and “Purushottam” did not live up to their expectations, Raj Tarun has come up now with “Bhale Unnadi.” Directed by Shiva Sai Vardhan, the movie has Manisha Kandukuri as the female lead, raising curiosity about whether Raj Tarun scored a hit after a long gap. Here is a detailed review of the movie.
Story:
Raj Tarun, a saree draper, does the saree dressing work for weddings and functions, while his mother Abhirami works at a bank. Manisha Kandukuri joins the same bank and becomes close to Abhirami because of Raj Tarun’s cooking. Krishna falls in love with Radha without seeing him. They get engaged after meeting through Krishna’s mother. But Krishna’s friend tells him that Radha might not be fit to marry, hence Krishna questions her intentions. Krishna then takes her to an ashram to investigate this. What is the outcome in the ashram? Is Radha really unfit for marriage? Does the wedding happen at last? The answers lie in watching the movie.
Analysis:
Director Shiva Sai Vardhan has tried and succeeded with a unique concept of how a well-behaved man gets questioned for his well-being, turning the story into a comic tale. The film opens with much humor, and everything about Radha-Krishna and their love story is all jolly in the first half. Then, in the second half, emotional elements are brought in, trying to touch the audience’s heart, especially with the story of Radha’s mother.
Some scenes related to Racha Ravi are irritating to watch, while some in the ashram bring mixed emotions. The surprising element of the movie is the emotional depth, especially the performance of Raj Tarun in the pre-climax. On the whole, “Bhale Unnadi” is a pack of good comedy with equally good emotional depth.
Performances:
Raj Tarun is impressive as Radha and gives one of his best performances in quite some time. Manisha Kandukuri enchants with her acting and charm as Krishna. Abhirami does wonders as Radha’s mother, once again proving her metal as a good actor. Special appearances in the form of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Leela Shyamson, along with comedians like Hyper Aadi, VTV Ganesh, and Sudarshan make this a fairly entertaining film. The technical scores by cinematographer Nagesh Banel and music director Shekhar Chandra are adequate. Production values are good; investments made by producer Kiran Kumar can be felt on the screen. Director Shiva Sai Vardhan scores big time with his novel narrative style.
Strengths:
- Storyline
- Raj Tarun’s performance
- Comedies
Weaknesses:
- Dragged scenes
Final Verdict: “Bhale Unnadi” goes well with its blends of humor and emotions.
