BJP senior leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa is back in limelight. The senior leader who was removed from CM post in July 2021 by BJP leaders is back in action as Assembly elections are nearing.
BJP High Command made Basavaraj Bommai as Chief Minister in the place of BS Yediyurappa. As Bommai belongs to Lingayat caste to which BS Yediyurappa belongs, BJP High Command thought that Lingayats will not be unhappy with Yediyurappa’s removal. Bommai is son of senior Janata leader and former Chief Minister SR Bommai. With his background and experience, BJP High Command thought that he can be a worthy successor to Yediyurappa and lead party to victory in 2023.
But due to various reasons Basavaraj Bommai has been unable to prove his mark. Either in running the government or leading the BJP party he has been facing several problems. Corruption charges leveled against Bommai’s government is also creating new head ache for BJP ahead of Assembly elections.
All the surveys done by several survey organizations and political parties till now have pointed out that BJP is facing tough times in Karnataka. Most of the surveys are showing favourable mood for Congress.
In this backdrop PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are once again looking towards BS Yediyurappa to get good results for the party in Assembly elections. PM Modi recently held a one-to-one meeting with BS Yediyurappa. Modi inaugurated Shivamogga airport in February on the request of BS Yediyurappa.
BS Yeddyurappa is the one who brought BJP to power in Karnataka. He knows Karnataka politics in and out. Even after resigning from CM post, he is the tallest leader of BJP party in Karnataka. Therefore PM Modi and Amit Shah have decided to depend on BS Yediyurappa to bring BJP back to power in Karnataka.
