BJP’s Ravi Kishan Queues Up to Vote in Gorakhpur, Emphasizes Humility

Ravi Kishan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat, demonstrated a humble approach as he arrived at a polling booth in Gorakhpur on Saturday. Kishan stood in line alongside other voters, underscoring that politicians should be viewed as public servants rather than VIPs.

“This is the lesson our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has imparted to us—that we are servants of the public, not VIPs. PM Modi eliminated the VIP culture in India by abolishing the red beacon concept. When your leader is grounded, it sets an example for all of us to remain humble and act as common citizens,” Kishan remarked. He stressed that following PM Modi’s example has changed the political landscape of the nation, promoting a culture of equality and service.

After casting his vote, Kishan stated, “I have cast my vote for a developed India, Ram Rajya, and to make India a ‘Vishwa Guru’ (world leader).” He reiterated his commitment to these ideals, reflecting the broader aspirations of his party and leadership.

In a video message on X, previously known as Twitter, Kishan had urged the electorate to participate in the voting process, referring to it as a “festival of democracy.” He appealed to the voters of Gorakhpur, calling them “God-like” and the makers of destiny for the region. “Friends, today voting is being held in Gorakhpur under the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha general elections. I humbly request all of you to exercise your right to vote in this great festival of democracy by discharging your duty as aware voters,” Kishan posted.

He emphasized the significance of every single vote, stating that each one contributes to shaping the future of the Lok Sabha and the country. “Every vote of yours is important and it will decide the future of your Lok Sabha and the country. Therefore, I once again appeal to all of you to participate enthusiastically in this festival of democracy,” he added.

Kishan is contending against Kajal Nishad of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Javed Ashraf of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in a constituency known as the stronghold of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The competition is intense, but Kishan’s approach aims to resonate with the common voter by eschewing VIP culture.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ravi Kishan secured a significant victory over Samajwadi Party candidate Rambhual Nishad, winning by a margin of 301,664 votes. His victory was seen as a reaffirmation of BJP’s influence in the region.

Kishan’s public stance and his act of queuing up to vote reflect his commitment to Modi’s vision of a leader being one with the people. This gesture is expected to strengthen his connection with the electorate, reinforcing the message that political leaders should serve with humility and dedication. As the elections proceed, Kishan’s actions may set a precedent for other politicians to follow, promoting a more inclusive and humble political culture.
