It is known that Sheikh Hasina resigned from post of Prime Minister due to the protests of students and people in Bangladesh, has left the country and she is seeking refuge in India. Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP asked India to hand over ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to face trial in cases of murder and other offences registered against her in Bangladesh. The demand from the principal opposition party in Bangladesh comes after Sheikh Hasina landed in Delhi on 5th August.

Along with the students, the BNP party also played a key role in the agitations that broke out on the issue of reservation. Many people have lost their lives in these protests and complaints have been made that former Prime Minister Hasina and her followers are responsible for their deaths.
31 cases have been registered against Sheikh Hasina, including 2 murders. BNP Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alangir asked India that Sheikh Hasina should be investigated and handed over to Bangladesh.
