The most exciting of bronze medal matches at the Paris Olympics 2024 turned out to be a comprehensive 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Indian hockey team over Spain. This turned out to be a historic victory as well since India won a bronze medal in consecutive Olympics. This looked like such a team capable of running off with the gold, and post their subsequent disappointing loss to Germany, they were contesting for the bronze medal.
The Hockey Federation has announced a reward of ₹15 lakhs to the bronze medalist players, and ₹7.5 lakhs to the supporting staff. Dilip Tirkey, the president of Hockey India, announced it and lauded the performance of the team.

He said, “Winning medals in consecutive Olympics is a big thing. It was the rebirth of Indian hockey in the world arena. This medal was the result of the players’ hard work, commitment, and dedication. So this definitely is the success of the players and the supporting staff because of their relentless effort. Though the cash award cannot fully justify the success, encouragement has to be given. I also congratulate PR Sreejesh for his brilliant performance in the tournament.”
