BRS Leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy Dies

The BRS party is shocked with extreme sadness over the loss of Telangana movement leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, who is rated as one of the essentials of the party. He has been ill for quite some time and was being treated at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. Unfortunately, he could not withstand his ill health, to which he succumbed on Friday morning, as confirmed by sources from the party.

He had recently been said to be suffering from a brain infection and his health was deteriorating. Due to that, he died when being treated at the hospital. Family members took his body to Bhuvanagiri.

Family members said that the last rites will be performed at 4 pm at the farmhouse on Maggampalli Road in Bhuvanagiri. The BRS leaders have expressed their condolences over his death.

Jitta Balakrishna Reddy played an important role in the Telangana movement. He was the State president of the youth wing of the party after the formation of the BRS party. He quit the party in 2009 for not being given a party ticket to the assembly elections, later contested as an independent candidate, and lost. He again lost elections in 2014 and 2018.

He was earlier in the Congress party during 2009 under late CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s leadership. After YSR’s death in the same year, he quit Congress and joined the YSR Congress. When the latter took an anti-Telangana stand, he quit the party and floated his party, the Young Telangana Party.

He later joined the Congress party again in the presence of Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy. He joined the BRS in 2023, a comeback to his original party after 14 years away. Jitta Balakrishna Reddy was born on December 14, 1972, at Bommaipalli village, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

He was born to Jitta Bala Reddy and Radhamma. He completed local schooling, District Parishad High School, at B.B. He did his schooling from Nagar in 1987, intermediate from Bhuvanagiri Government Junior College in 1989, and graduation in B.Com from DVM Degree and PG College in 1993.

He greatly served the BRS party in the unified Nalgonda district by building up the party and sorting out the problems of the people, including fluoride contamination. He installed purified drinking water plants in many villages at his own cost.
