Last year’s IPL season did not come together as expected for Lucknow Super Giants. They performed poorly. Team owner Sanjeev Goenka once expressed his anger on captain KL Rahul during a series of poor performances last year. However, KL Rahul wants to play for the Lucknow Super Giants team in the next season as well. It seems that he went to the RPG head office in Kolkata and met Goenka and told him that he wanted to be retained, but he was not assured of retention.
KL Rahul expressed his intentions about being retained to Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka although no such assurances have been given.

An IPL Governing Council member revealed: KL Rahul came to Kolkata and met Sanjeev Goenka at RPG head office. He has clearly told Goenka that he wants to be retained.
The reports are coming that Lucknow Super Giants will retain star wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul for the upcoming season of IPL. However, he will be retained in the team but he will not be in the role of captain of the team in the upcoming season. According to the report, KL Rahul himself is ready to step down from this role because he wants to perform brilliantly for the team with his bat.
