Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the negligence and irregularities of the previous rulers have become a curse and if the work had been completed on time, there would have been no problem.
Addressing a press conference, CM Chandrababu Naidu said, “The breach in Budameru has badly affected the public for more than seven days. This is the first time that the water flow of Krishna river has increased to more than 11.3 lakh cusecs due to heavy rains in the Telugu states.”
Chandrababu Naidu stressed that he is writing a letter to the Central Government to request financial assistance. He said, “The situation requires immediate intervention and adequate support to overcome the difficulties caused by the floods. Our efforts to close the breaches in Budameru have been recognised at the national level.”

The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, “We have analysed the situation and we are providing a special package to overcome the impact of floods in 179 secretariats in 32 wards. We will give a compensation of Rs 25,000 to ground floor residents in these affected wards. First floor residents will get Rs 10,000. In other parts of the state, those whose properties have been submerged will get a similar compensation of Rs 10,000.”
He also said that small businessmen will get a compensation of Rs 25,000. At the same time, businesses with a turnover of less than Rs 40 lakh, will get Rs 50,000. Entrepreneurs with a turnover of Rs 1.5 crore will also get a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The CM said that insurance claims worth Rs 71.5 crore have been filed, of which claims worth Rs 6 crore have been settled so far. Handcart and auto owners will get a compensation of Rs 10,000, and 2-wheeler owners will be given a compensation of Rs 3,000.
CM Naidu further said that he has requested the banks to provide a loan of Rs 50,000 to ground floor residents with a moratorium of three months and a repayment period of 36 months.
