CM Revanth Reddy: Revanth's Government's Big Twist on Indiramma Houses

The Congress government in Telangana, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is committed to fulfilling the promises made before the elections. Upon coming to power, they have already implemented several promises. The Congress government announced that they would implement six guarantees within the first 100 days of coming to power and have initiated actions towards this goal. However, the implementation of key promises was interrupted due to the imposition of the general and MLC by-election code from March to June. With the election code now lifted, the Revanth Reddy government is ready to implement the remaining guarantees and promises. One significant announcement relates to the 2 lakh farmer loan waiver, which is set to be completed by August 15. Another critical decision involves the distribution of Indiramma houses.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has repeatedly emphasized the Congress government’s commitment to fulfilling the dream of providing homes for the poor. In line with this, the government is ready to introduce a big twist in the distribution of Indiramma houses. The government plans to grant Indiramma houses only to those who have white ration cards and exclusively in the name of women. In the first phase, financial assistance of ₹5 lakhs will be provided to those who own land but do not have a house. Beneficiaries must reside locally, and even those who are currently renting are eligible for this scheme.

On March 11 this year, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched the Indiramma housing scheme and released guidelines on eligibility and the distribution process. Officials are now preparing guidelines for the construction of Indiramma houses. The beneficiaries for the first phase will be selected through a lottery system. The Revanth Reddy government has been reviewing the implementation methods of similar schemes in other states before finalizing this decision.

The Congress government has announced that a total of 4.5 lakh houses will be granted under this scheme, with an estimated expenditure of ₹22,500 crores. Additionally, the government has declared that each constituency in the state will receive 3,500 houses. There are plans to increase the number of beneficiaries by adding more houses. As a result, many who have already applied for the Indiramma houses are eagerly waiting with high hopes.
