Cyrus Mistry death: Seat belt would have saved life

Tata Group’s former chairman and scion of Shapoorji Pallonji Group died in a fatal road accident on Sunday. He was traveling to Mumbai from Udvada in Gujarat, along with three other family members, when the Mercedes car he was travelling crashed. His untimely death shook entire corporate world. Anahita Pandole, a gynaecologist from Mumbai and part of Mistry’s extended family was driving the car. Anahita Pandole’s husband Darius Pandole was sitting to next to her in the front seat. Cyrus Mistry along with Jehangir Pandole was sitting in the rear seat.

When the Mercedes car crashed into a road divider on Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway, Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole, who were sitting in the rear seat died on spot. The reason for their spot death is said that they were not wearing seat belts. On the other side, Anahita and Darius who wore seat belts survived the crash. However even they have been severely injured and undergoing treatment in hospital now. Police in their initial response about the car accident, said that Cyrus Mistry would have been saved if he had worn seat belt. As he did not wear seat belt, even protective airbags did not function, leaving the high profile industrialist dead on spot.
