Legendary exploits of the man—Mahendra Singh Dhoni—are not needed to be introduced to cricket aficionados, who are more than aware of what he has done as a batsman, ‘keeper, and leader of men. Dhoni led from the front and captained the Indian cricket team to many victories, including the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, apart from the Champions Trophy. However, Dinesh Karthik was recently under attack for not including Dhoni in his all-time favorite Indian XI, which he announced on India’s 78th Independence Day.

Because of the selection of his team, which didn’t include Dhoni, Dhoni’s fans lashed back at him. Karthik responded to this controversy by apologizing and admitted that he ‘accidentally forgot’ to name a wicket-keeper in his team. He went on to clarify that people got the wrong impression that he had chosen Rahul Dravid as the wicket-keeper, which never was the case. Karthik accepted his mistake and told the fans that Dhoni would definitely find a place in any all-time XI he picks in the future, not just as a player, but as the captain.
Karthik’s acceptance of his fault and his apology have somehow calmed the situation, but it remains to be seen if it will fully settle this controversy with the ardent fans of Dhoni.
