DIRECTOR GENERAL Dwaraka Tirumala Rao Appointed as Andhra Pradesh DGP


Senior IPS officer Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has assumed the charge as Director General of Police (DGP) at the State police headquarters in Mangalagiri. Later, he called on Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati. At a review meeting conducted by him, Rao briefed the CM on the progress of the investigation of the recent murder of a young woman in Eepurupalem, Bapatla district. The Chief Minister stressed the need for such unfortunate incidents to recur and instructed the new DGP to enforce the strictest measures taken by the police for the protection of the citizens.

Chief Minister Naidu announced plans for an overall development program of the state police department, stating that the protection of people’s lives and property has been declared as a duty prime by the government. He stressed that protection of women should be on the top list, and maximum punishment should be given to the perpetrators who carried out the Eepurupalem incident. 

Before assuming his post, Tirumala Rao also visited the Goddess Kanaka Durga temple at Indrakeeladri with his family. He was given a guard of honor at the police headquarters and took over in the presence of his family and senior police officials. The ceremony was attended by ADGs Shankha Brata Bagchi, K.L. Meena, Atul Singh, IGs Vineet Brijlal, Srikanth, DIGs Raja Kumari, Naveen Jetty, Mohan Rao, and other dignitaries who were congratulated.
