From cinema to politics: the journey of Roja
Roja is one of the admired actresses with mesmerizing screen presence and acting talents who could very easily make her foray into the political arena, going on to become quite popular through her participation in various films and reality shows. She actively participated in the TDP first, then shifted loyalty to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Her political journey has also not been free of controversy, often finding herself in hot water with her outspoken nature and controversial remarks.

Roja’s sharp tongue has landed her in trouble multiple times. She has received flak from TDP supporters for her harsh comments during the time when TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu was in jail. She didn’t spare even Pawan Kalyan’s personal life from her verbal attacks, thereby adding more controversy. She suffered a crushing defeat in the recent assembly elections, which was a big setback to her political career. She is also a minister who initiated the “Adudam Andhra” program with the goal of developing rural sports all over Andhra Pradesh.

Adudam Andhra Program: A Scandal in the Making
This is an “Adudam Andhra” program led by Roja, with the involvement of Minister Dharmana Krishna Das. It was a big program organized with the objective of encouraging rural sports. The program was executed at a mammoth budget of ₹150 crore, fully funded by public money. Soon after, the program fell into controversy when opposition leaders of TDP accused Roja and Dharmana of large-scale corruption and misappropriation of funds.
Corruption and Misappropriation of Funds Allegations
The TDP leaders said that “Adudam Andhra” was full of irregularities, wherein genuine talent was kept aside and candidates were inducted by political recommendations or favors. Besides, the whole budget is misused, and funds have been diverted by those at the helm of affairs. Subsequently, the opposition accused the ruling YSRCP of using the program for election propaganda instead of focusing on sports.

CID Investigation and Possible Arrest
On the other hand, TDP leaders lodged a complaint with the CID to probe the ₹150 crore scam. The matter has been taken seriously by the CID and directed key instructions to the NTR District Police Commissioner to probe the irregularities. In the midst of the investigation, there are speculations that Roja could be arrested anytime, which would be a turning point in her political career.
