Gas Leak at Kuala Lumpur Airport

Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia is one of the busiest airports in the world. However, a gas leak at this airport has caused significant alarm. Approximately 40 passengers have reportedly fallen seriously ill due to the leak.

What exactly happened? How did a gas leak in an airport that operates on high alert every minute? Was it a failure on the part of the authorities, or was there another cause? These are the questions currently haunting the airport authorities. The incident occurred in the Southern Support Zone, where the Sepang Aircraft Engineering facility is located.

The gas leak happened around 11:30 AM, affecting about 39 passengers, who were immediately moved to another area for treatment. All of them are receiving medical attention at a hospital. Authorities stated that the Selangor fire brigade quickly controlled the gas leak upon being informed. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The gas released was identified as methyl mercaptan. Authorities have assured that this incident will not affect flight operations. An investigation into the cause of the gas leak has been initiated.
