Even after a decade since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, certain issues between the two states have not been resolved. Some of these pending issues are regarding the division of assets, building evacuations, and employee transfers. On the bright side, the Andhra Pradesh government headed by Chandrababu Naidu announced a sigh of relief to Telangana-origin employees who are currently working in Andhra Pradesh.

Relief for Telangana-Origin Employees
The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders to that effect and 122 non-gazetted staff of their state whose local domicile was Telangana stand relieved. These staff were initially allotted to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation of the state. The decision has been made based on the request of the Telangana government, which asked for the employees to be returned to their home state.
Order Details and Implementation
Orders are given to relieve the employees from duties in Andhra Pradesh and send them back to Telangana. Employees who are to be transferred will have to first give their consent in writing; such has been the ruling of the Andhra Pradesh government. Further, it has been clarified that the employees will be assigned to only the bottom rank of their cadre upon joining the government of Telangana.

Historical Background and Recent Developments
While some Telangana-origin employees allocated to Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation returned, some others continued to serve in Andhra Pradesh. The question of their transfer has been pending, and they hoped that their issue would also come up for discussion when Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and K. Chandrashekar Rao respectively met in Hyderabad on July 6.

After facing severe pressure from the employees and a formal plea from the government of Telangana, the Andhra Pradesh government finally took the decision immediately before the beginning of the Independence Day celebrations. The move has been received with appreciation and happiness from those who have been waiting for their transfer back to Telangana.
