The grave flood situations present heart-wrenching scenes in Vijayawada. Newborn babies, children, elderly persons, physically handicapped people-hundreds of people struggle for survival amidst the flood waters. Finally, three days after, as the water was not fully but partly receded, some of them rammed their way out on foot and the rest were rescued with the help of NDRF and SDRF teams.
Particularly, aged people and children who have not taken any proper food are trying by hook and crook to come out of the floods somehow. Drums, truck tubes, plastic boxes-everything that people lay hands on-are being used in desperation to survive and reach dry land outside the flooded areas. The NDRF is carrying out rescue work in flood-affected areas and has so far managed to shift children, pregnant women, and elderly people to safer places.
The situation is no different in Telangana, where Khammam is literally abuzz in floodwaters, and hundreds of people are still trapped, hopeful of succor. This crisis saw the film industry come forward with monetary aid as many celebrities announced hefty donations. From “Ayy” Movie Unit to “Kalki” producers Ashwini Dutt ₹25 lakh.
