The Meteorological Department of Amaravati has forecasted widespread rain across the state of Andhra Pradesh for the next 72 hours due to the influence caused by surface circulation and a trough. Heavy rains in several parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh today and moderate to light rainfall in parts of South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema have been warned by officials. The department has asked the people to be alert as inclement weather conditions are likely to prevail over parts of the State.
Impact in Various Districts
Rainfall occurred at many places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, Prakasam, and Nandyal districts on Sunday. The maximum rainfall of 60.25 mm was recorded at Sankhavaram in Kakinada district up to 9 p.m.
Further, light to moderate rainfall is envisaged over the districts of Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, NTR district, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Kurnool, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati.

Extended surface circulation over Telangana and north Karnataka will lead to heavy rainfall on Monday. Several districts that would receive light to moderate rainfall are Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Manyam, Alluri, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Prakasam, Anantapur, Nandyal, Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya. Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Nellore, Kurnool, Sri Sathya Sai, and YSR may also have light rainfall.
This heavy rain is, therefore, going to affect daily activities and cause safety hazards, hence the public has been advised to take necessary measures in protecting themselves and their property.
Rising Temperatures Despite Rainfall
Though the southwest monsoon is on, maximum temperatures are still very high in many parts of the state. On Sunday, places like Visakhapatnam, Tuni, Kakinada, Narsapuram, Machilipatnam, Nandigama, Gannavaram, Ongole, Nellore, Kavali, Nandyal, Kurnool, Kadapa, and Anantapur recorded temperatures 2 to 5 degrees above normal. The Amaravati Meteorological Department said that such high temperatures were not common for this period, thus further complicating the weather situation.
