In an unprecedented attack, thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah members detonated across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing at least 26 people and injuring thousands. Hospitals were overwhelmed, and a field hospital was set up in Tyre to accommodate the wounded. Hezbollah blames Israel for the attack, vowing retaliation, while Israel did not comment.
According to security sources, the pagers contained explosives implanted by Israel’s Mossad. These devices were undetected for months, with 3g of explosives hidden inside. The detonation was triggered by a coded message sent to the pagers, causing simultaneous explosions.

Reports suggest the pagers were tampered with before reaching Hezbollah. Similarly, walkie-talkies purchased months ago also exploded on Wednesday, but details about their tampering remain unclear.
The pagers, identified as the AR-924 model, were manufactured by Taiwan-based Gold Apollo. Hezbollah, which uses pagers for secure communication to avoid mobile phone tracking, was caught off guard by the devices being turned into weapons. Experts consider this a significant counterintelligence failure for the group, highlighting the extent of Israeli penetration into Hezbollah’s communication systems.
