Hyderabad city is all geared up for grand Ganesh chaturthi celebrations this year. Ganesh Mandap organisers are already bringing Ganesh idols to the mandaps and making final arrangements to kick off celebrations on Wednesday. Ganesh Chaturthi has a special place in the lives of Hindus and we all know how fondly Hyderabadis celebrate this special festival. But in the changed political situation in Telangana, Ganesh chaturthi celebrations this year are going to be keenly watched by everyone.
Hyderabad city, has always been home for grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Especially organisations like Ganesh Utsav Samithi, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal and others have been playing key role in popularising Ganesh chaturthi celebrations in the city. All these organisations are pro-BJP and even many popular BJP leaders also play key role during Ganesh chaturthi festival.
While there is nothing political about Ganesh chaturthi festival, when it comes to celebrations, most of the times BJP leaders were at the forefront in popularising and continuing Ganesh chaturthi celebrations culture in Hyderabad. Several times in the past, right wing leaders have also fought with police for permissions and other issues with Hyderabad police for Ganesh celebrations. With political scenario changing in Telangana and popular leader MLA Raja Singh being targeted by TRS and AIMIM, it is going to be a very politically and socially sensitive Ganesh chaturthi celebrations this year. To ward off any untoward incidents, Hyderabad police are on high alert.
