“Hyderabad Introduces Strict Penalties for Drunk Driving on New Year’s Eve”

Hyderabad authorities are set to enforce rigorous drunk and drive checks starting at 8 PM on December 31 across the city. In a bid to ensure road safety and curb instances of intoxicated driving, stringent penalties have been outlined for offenders. First-time violators will face a hefty fine of ₹10,000 and may also be subjected to a jail term of up to six months.

The consequences escalate for repeated offenders, who will be liable to pay a fine of ₹15,000 and could potentially face imprisonment for a period of two years. This proactive measure underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a safe and responsible driving environment, particularly during times of heightened celebrations and gatherings. Motorists are urged to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid severe penalties and ensure the well-being of all road users.
