Current and Proposed Metro Routes
Currently, the Hyderabad Metro runs an elevated route from Nagole to Raidurg. In the second phase, the metro line will further be extended from LB Nagar via Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, Jalpally, P7 Road, up to Shamshabad Airport, thereby covering 33.1 km. Of this, 21.4 km from Nagole to Lakshmiguda will continue to be an elevated route.
From Lakshmiguda, the line will be underground up to a distance of 5.28 kilometers from P7 Road up to the perimeter of the airport. The biggest development, though, will be the underground stretch of 6.42 kilometers that will take the metro line right up to the terminal of the airport. This is going to be the city’s first-ever underground metro line, and it’s a big achievement in terms of urban infrastructure development for Hyderabad.

New Stations and Facilities
The second phase of Hyderabad Metro will see the construction of 22 new stations, spaced at an average of 1.5 kilometers from one another. A few of them are proposed to be “future stations” so that the increasing transportation requirements of the city are met appropriately. There are going to be important interchange hubs at Nagole, LB Nagar, Chandrayangutta, and Mailardevpally that ensure seamless connectivity in every direction across the metro network.
Apart from this, there will be underground stations at Cargo, Terminal, and Ecosystem, and a depot will also be set up. The DPR for this ambitious expansion is already done, and now the way is clear for the successive steps to make the Hyderabad metro more comprehensive and accessible.
