“Hyderabad Resident’s Complaint Triggers Cadbury Chocolate Contamination Investigation”

0:00

Authorities in Hyderabad have launched an investigation into a disturbing incident involving a Cadbury chocolate bar purchased by a resident, Robin Vinay Kumar Zaccheus. Prompted by Zaccheus’s complaint, authorities inspected the store where the chocolate was purchased and obtained samples from the implicated batch.

Subsequent analysis by the Telangana State Food Laboratory revealed the presence of white worms and webs in the chocolate sample, rendering it unsafe for consumption under food safety regulations. The laboratory’s report also highlighted discrepancies in moisture content, total fat, and acid insoluble ash levels, indicating a failure to meet prescribed standards for chocolate products.

In response to the incident, Mondelez India, the parent company of Cadbury, issued a statement reaffirming their commitment to food safety. They emphasized their adherence to the rigorous HACCP program and conducted additional tests on the implicated batch and surrounding batches, finding no issues.

While a sample of Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate (Fruit & Nut) was deemed safe for consumption, the contamination scare underscores the importance of stringent quality control measures throughout the manufacturing and distribution process. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure consumer safety and prevent future incidents of contamination.
