HYDRA was directed to pause its ongoing demolition drive to clear encroachments on lakes/tanks for a couple of days.

HYDRA which was praised by people for removing illegal structures in Hyderabad, has now stopped the demolitions. Hydra chief Ranganath said that although many illegal structures have already been identified, the work of demolishing them has been temporarily postponed.

They said that their work has been stopped as many areas are flooded due to heavy rains across the state and people are waiting for help. They explained that their teams are participating in the GHMC Man Soon relief operations. It was explained that the removal of encroachments will start as soon as the rains recede.

Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy instructed the agency to prepare action plans for taking steps in advance in view of the heavy rain forecast besides intensifying relief operations in flood affected districts.

Irrigation, revenue and municipal authorities are issuing notices for illegal structures in FTL and buffer zones. It warns to vacate the houses within a week.
