IIT Hyderabad Partners with Armed Forces Medical Services for Research and Training

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has entered into a collaborative agreement with the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to advance research and training efforts. This memorandum of understanding (MoU) signifies a concerted effort to innovate in medical device development and address health challenges faced by soldiers in diverse environments, according to a press release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

Under this partnership, the departments of Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, and Bioinformatics at IIT Hyderabad will leverage their technical expertise to support the AFMS. Lt Gen Daljit Singh, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services, underscored the importance of this collaboration in enhancing medical care for soldiers. He emphasized the value of partnering with leading academic institutions like IIT Hyderabad, which are renowned for their research capabilities and innovative approaches. This partnership is expected to yield comprehensive medical solutions tailored to the unique needs of military personnel.

Prof BS Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, reiterated the institute’s commitment to addressing the medical challenges presented by the Armed Forces. He highlighted the institute’s dedication to providing effective and timely solutions, leveraging IIT Hyderabad’s strong research foundation and technological prowess.
