Where will it be introduced?

Among the busiest airports of India, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is one of them. More than 70 million passengers pass through this airfield every year. According to the officials, it is said that this figure will reach 130 million by the next 6-8 years. Around 25% passengers moving through this airport travel between Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, which also takes a toll on the precious time of the passenger. Currently, passengers have to be transferred through bus services, which ultimately causes a delay.

This led the central government to introduce the air train system, that spans 7.7 kilometers, between the three terminals at Delhi airport. The project costs ₹2,000 crores and aims to make air travel between the terminals easy for passengers. The government has decided that the air train would be functional by 2027. The above system is also famously known as Automated People Mover or APM.

The first air train project will begin receiving bids in October and November this year. The awarded contractors are expected to complete the processing by the end of this fiscal year and begin working.
