“IPS Mahesh Chandra Laddha’s AP Return: A Check on YSRCP?”

"IPS Mahesh Chandra Laddha's AP Return: A Check on YSRCP?"

IPS Mahesh Chandra Laddha: Senior IPS officer Mahesh Chandra Laddha is set to join the AP (Andhra Pradesh) Service. He is currently serving as the CRPF IG. Laddha belongs to the 1998 AP cadre. Two days ago, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the Center requesting Laddha’s transfer to the state service. The Center promptly issued orders to transfer him to the AP services.

There is widespread speculation that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will appoint IPS Mahesh Chandra Laddha as the AP Intelligence Chief. Laddha has earned a good reputation as an honest officer. He does not compromise on law and order and is also known as an encounter specialist. The Chief Minister intends to utilize Laddha’s services.

In 2019, when opposition leader YS Jagan was attacked with a cockfight knife at Visakhapatnam Airport, Laddha was serving as the City Police Commissioner of Visakhapatnam. Following this, he moved directly from Visakhapatnam to central services. Now, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has brought him back from the Center to AP.

Mahesh Chandra Laddha, originally from Rajasthan, was selected for the IPS. He began his career as an ASP in Visakhapatnam, belonging to the 1998 AP batch. He then served as SP in Prakasam, Guntur, and Nizamabad districts. While serving in the erstwhile Prakasam district, IPS Mahesh Chandra Laddha narrowly escaped a Naxalite attack. During his tenure as Guntur SP, he cracked down on rowdyism and conducted raids on clubs. He also has experience working as the Deputy Commissioner of Vijayawada. Now, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has chosen him carefully and is likely to assign him a crucial role.
