India emerged as the world champion in the T20 World Cup 2024. On Thursday, Team India players received a grand welcome upon their return to India. After meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the team flew directly to Mumbai Airport on a special flight. From there, they conducted a road show at 5 PM. During the celebrations held at Wankhede Stadium, the players were felicitated and awarded prize money. In these victory celebrations, Virat Kohli shared an interesting point, suggesting that Bumrah should continue in the team as long as he plays.

Following the T20 World Cup victory, key Team India players announced their retirement from the T20 format. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja bid farewell. During the victory celebrations at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah addressed the audience. He expressed happiness about his role in the tournament’s victory and said he couldn’t forget the fans flocking to the stadium.

He reminisced about coming to Wankhede Stadium to play Under-19 cricket and visiting it many times afterward. However, he said returning now felt extraordinary and spoke his heart out. He mentioned feeling fortunate to have played with senior players like Virat, Rohit, and Jadeja.

When asked about his retirement from T20s, Bumrah clarified that he was far from considering retirement. “I feel like I’m just getting started. The victories so far have been joyous. Retirement is not on my mind right now; there’s a long time for that. I still consider myself a young player. The fans’ support has been incredible. Virat and Rohit have led the team from the front,” he said.
