Jio Gives Major Shock to Users: Recharge Plans Hiked - Find Out How Much     


The country’s biggest telecom company by user base, Reliance Jio, has come as a big shock to prepaid subscribers. Speculations hovering around a mobile tariff hike have come out to be true. That is because the company increased tariff plans by up to 25 percent. It is also expected that Airtel and Vodafone Idea will do the same very soon. Let’s find out how much Jio has increased the cost of every plan.

Prices of Reliance Jio’s prepaid plans have been increased, as the telecom company has taken a 12.5%-to-25% hike in its various plans. It will start charging these increased rates from July 3. The new rates will not apply to current users. In response, Reliance Jio stated that there would be no tariff hikes in respect of the Jio Bharat and Jio Phone subscribers. It has increased the price tags on 19 of its prepaid and postpaid plans, of which 17 belong to the prepaid category and two to postpaid plans. This time also marks the first instance when Jio has had to increase tariffs before Airtel.

### New Plans Announced:

According to Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash M. Ambani, the new plans for investments in 5G, and AI technology are in pursuit of industry innovation and green growth together. The Company reports now all plans with 2GB per day or more shall now have unlimited 5G data.

### Plan Hikes:

– *Base Tariff Plan*: Base tariff, earlier at Rs. 155, now at Rs. 189, up by 22%.
-*Monthly Tariff*: It has risen from the existing price of Rs 399 to Rs 449.
– *Two-Month Plan*: The Rs 479 plan has become Rs 579, and the Rs 533 plan has become Rs 629.
– *Three-Month Plan*: It has increased from Rs 395 to Rs 999 and now from Rs 479 to Rs 1199.
– *Annual Plan*: The yearly plan of Rs. 1559 is now available for Rs. 1899, and the Rs. 2999 scheme has become Rs. 3599.
– *Add-On Data Plans*: Add-on plans which cost between Rs. 15 to Rs. 61 increased to Rs. 19 to Rs.69.

### Postpaid Plans Hiked Too:

Jio has raised the price of two postpaid plans. The Rs 299 postpaid plan will now be Rs 349 with 30GB of free data. The Rs 399 postpaid plan of the company will now be priced at Rs 449 for 75Gb free data per month.

### Airtel and Vodafone Idea Likely to Follow:

Airtel and Vodafone Idea are likely to read from this cue. For the first time, Jio has increased tariffs more than Airtel as generally Airtel hikes tariffs first, followed by a similar rise by Jio in its tariff. Of late, after the growth of Jio, growth was also seen in Airtel, and now growth will be witnessed in Vodafone Idea too. Recently, the 5G spectrum auction was participated in by the telecom companies. Following this, news started pouring in that the telecom companies could increase tariffs by 20 percent to 25 percent.
