A disaster was averted as a conspiracy to derail the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express in Uttar Pradesh was uncovered on Monday, police said.
Kalindi Express collided with LPG gas cylinder placed on the tracks near a crossing in Kanpur’s Muderi village. This incident took place on Sunday morning. The quick response of loco pilot, who immediately applied emergency brakes, prevented accident.

The conspirators were sitting near the place between Barrajpur and Bilhaur in Kanpur where the failed attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express with the help of filled LPG cylinders, waiting for the accident to happen. Initial investigation has revealed that a bag and a bottle filled with liquid with a wick was present at some distance from the incident spot. In such a situation, there is a suspicion that the flammable substance filled in the bottle was being prepared to be used to make the incident bigger.
3 packets of a substance resembling gunpowder were found at the spot. The candles and matchsticks were also found, so it is suspected that the conspirator was waiting for the train to overturn. However, it is not clear whether the conspirators were one or many.
