Karnataka Governor sanctions prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah got a big shock. State Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has issued orders to investigate Siddaramaiah in the Mysore Urban Development Corporation (Muda) land allotment scam. The governor ordered CM Siddaramaiah to be prosecuted in the wake of the petitions filed by 3 activists namely Abraham, Pradeep Kumar and Snehamai Krishna.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been facing flak from the opposition in the state for land deal involving the allotment of 14 housing sites in Mysuru to his wife.

Governor’s Secretariat has issued a letter saying that as per the Governor’s orders, Siddaramaiah will be investigated under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and Indian Civil Protection Code 2023 on the allegations of corruption. This comes after RTI activist TJ George petitioned the governor to accord permission to prosecute Siddaramiah. 2 others, Pradeep Kumar SP and Snehamayi Krishna, had also approached Governor seeking sanction for prosecution.

CM’ Office also revealed that they have received the letter regarding the Governor’s orders.
