Kollywood superstar Karthi’s much-awaited family entertainer, which goes by the title Meiyalagan, is now set to hit the screens on September 27. Directed by Prem Kumar, who had earlier helmed the revenge drama 96, the film will have Arvind Swami playing a significant role as well as Sri Divya as the female lead from Telugu.

The film will also be released in Telugu with the title Sathyam Sundaram on September 28. Karthi and the team of the film recently reached Hyderabad for a pre-release event. Here Karthi interacted with Telugu film media and revealed interesting information about the project.

Reflecting on the reaction of his brother Suriya to his work, Karthi said, “My brother Suriya hugged me when I watched my first film, Paruthiveeran. After so many years, he embraced me again after watching the film Sathyam Sundaram. He was very proud of my performance in this film. Sathyam Sundaram is a heartwarming tale and offers feel-good entertainment—truly a complete family entertainer.”

About his co-star Arvind Swami, Karthi said: “Both our characters play a vital role in the movie. Arvind hails from a village and this is actually a part of his life he is returning to. He was extremely emotional when we read out the script, and we became like brothers throughout. It would not be Sathyam Sundaram without Arvind Swami,” he said.

Karthi further disclosed that, much like 96, the entire film Sathyam Sundaram takes place within one night. “Tears rolled down my face when I read the script. The film beautifully portrays the unconditional love that our families have for us. It’s deeply rooted in our culture and resembles K. Viswanath’s classics like Sagara Sangamam and Oopiri. I play a carefree villager in this story,” he shared.

Speaking of the release date strategy, Karthi says, “While the Tamil version of Sathyam Sundaram is out on September 27, the Telugu version will be out a day later on September 28 to avoid clashing with Devara. While Devara is like a war film, our Sathyam Sundaram is more like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, he jokes.”.

Crafted by Karthi’s brother Suriya and his wife Jyothika under their 2D Entertainment banner, Sathyam Sundaram promises to be a heartwarming cinematic experience.
