As the Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao embarks on district tours from today to launch development programmes and expedite pending projects, a hectic schedule lies ahead for him. Initially, KCR will inspect the progress of the 4,000MW Yadadri Thermal Power plant at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district, which is nearing completion, as a component of an exercise to inspect pending projects and taking them to the termination stage.
While the chief minister will be in Mahbubnagar on December 4 to initiate development programmes, he will be in Mahabubabad and Suryapet, with dates to be determined. Further, he will chair public meetings in Mahbubnagar, Mahabubabad and Suryapet. The chief minister laid the foundation for the YTPP project, that worth Rs 29,992, in June 2015. The actual completion date of the project was October 2021, but it was pushed back due to Covid.
KCR will conduct a review meeting, soon after the inspection, with officials at the site and is likely to set new deadlines for officials to accomplish the project. As per sources, the chief minister plans to visit the districts shortly after Sankranthi in January to distribute 2BHK houses to the poor. As of now, construction of 1.29 lakh 2BHKs in districts other than Hyderabad has been completed of the total 2.91 lakh 2BHKs sanctioned for poor statewide.
The state government directed collectors in their respective districts to complete beneficiary selection by January 15 and make arrangements for distribution in January. Under GHMC limits, 15,660 2BHK houses will be distributed by CM at Kollur built at a cost of Rs 1,408 crore. These 9-storey apartments have been built and are ready for allotment. On January 18, KCR will also visit districts to launch Kanti Velugu, a scheme that will provide free eye screenings, surgeries, and spectacles to people from lower-income families.
