KCR’s Political Strategy: A Game of Deception and Mastery

KCR's Political Strategy: A Game of Deception and Mastery

0:00

The Unpredictability of Politics

KCR : There is always talk about the mysterious game that politics is, especially to one who is not a seasoned veteran. No one can predict which party a leader is going to side with or what strategies may be cooked up by key political players. The senior leaders in most cases keep their cards very close to the chest, and at times they deliberately send out feelers to gauge the pulse of the other regime. No one epitomizes this strategic mastery better than the present Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), in the state of Telangana.

KCR’s Unique Brand of Politics

KCR’s political games are not ordinary ones. His plans are well thought out, and quite often, leaders and parties land in his trap. Several veteran politicians in Telangana often say that no other leader in their state is able to play political moves like KCR does, leaving his rivals bewildered. On August 15, KTR, the son of KCR and one of the important leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, or BRS, had an interaction with the media from the BRS office, and he came out with some sensational information.

KTR Sets the Record Straight on BRS-BJP Merger Rumour

Some of the main clarifications KTR made were regarding the merger of BRS with the BJP. He termed it as baseless rumours, putting a rhetorical question as to why, if there indeed was a secret deal with the BJP, his sister Kavitha would spend five months in prison. KTR’s statement was an effort at killing the rumors doing rounds, more so after Kavitha’s trips to Delhi for legal consultations to get her bail. He iterated once again that there was no secret deal between the BRS and BJP to set speculations once and for all to rest.

The Strategic Leak and Congress Link

A few days prior to KTR’s media interaction, the BRS camp deliberately leaked out information that the party is contemplating a merger with the BJP. Obviously, this was done through BRS leaders and an attempt was made to link it to Congress leaders. Many political analysts and Congress leaders pointed out that the whole episode bears the hallmark of KCR’s political strategy aimed at keeping opponents on their toes.

The Silence of Telangana BJP

One of the most intriguing things about this political drama is the deafening silence of the leaders of the Telangana BJP. Once vocal critics of KCR and his BRS, they have fallen silent. This has led to much speculation regarding the reasons for their sudden change in behavior. The Congress leaders believe that this is the result of the strategic thinking of KCR and nothing much on this count is left for the BJP to say or do. They opined that it amounts to a classic case of KCR brand politics where nothing was what it was, and every move was a calculated move.

Conclusion: The Art of Political Deception

In doing so, KCR’s political stratagem proved once more that he had the wherewithal to maneuver through the complex and often treacherous waters of Telangana politics. Deception coupled with a willingness to take calculated risks is indeed a continuing streak of his methods, always keeping opponents guessing and often powerless. According to Congress leaders, nothing comes at face value from KCR; every act is part of a bigger, well-thought-out strategy.
