A helicopter that had recently arrived for repair in Kedarnath slipped while being moved for repairs. The incident took place on Saturday morning while they were being tied to the army helicopter with cables. Army helicopter lost balance due to heavy weight and winds. A video of the incident (Kedarnath Helicopter Crash ) shows the helicopter falling from mid-air as the rope snapped.
The helicopter crashed in Mandakini river in Lincholi area. As the helicopter fell down from the top, it became damaged.

A helicopter used to transport devotees to Kedarnath had to make an emergency landing last May. Since then, the travel company has kept the helicopter aside. Arrangements have been made to repair it on Saturday.
There was a plan to take the helicopter to Gauchar airstrip, with the help of Mi-17 aircraft, for repair. As soon as it covered a little distance, Mi-17 started losing balance due to the weight of the helicopter and wind, due to which helicopter had to be dropped near Tharu camp. There was no luggage or passenger on the helicopter.
