Kesineni Nani Announces Retirement from Active Politics

Kesineni Nani Steps Away from Political Arena

Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), a prominent two-time parliamentarian from Vijayawada, has officially announced his retirement from active politics. Nani, who represented Vijayawada in the Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019 under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) banner, contested the latest election on a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) ticket but was defeated by his brother, Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni). Chinni secured the Vijayawada seat with a significant majority, leading to Nani’s decision to withdraw from the political scene.

Transition from TDP to YSRCP

Nani’s departure from TDP followed a series of disagreements with the party’s high command, which eventually led to the allocation of the Vijayawada Lok Sabha ticket to his brother. Disillusioned with the party, Nani joined YSRCP earlier this year, hoping to continue his political career under a new banner. However, the recent electoral defeat prompted a reevaluation of his political journey.

Announcing His Retirement

On Monday, Nani took to the social media platform X to announce his retirement. He stated, “After careful consideration and reflection, I have decided to step away from politics and conclude my political journey.” He expressed gratitude to the people of Vijayawada for their unwavering support during his two terms in office. “Serving the people of Vijayawada as an MP for two terms has been an incredible honor. The resilience and backbone of the human beings of Vijayawada had been my inspiration,” he added.” he added.

Commitment to Vijayawada Continues

Although retiring from active politics, Nani emphasized his continued dedication to the welfare of Vijayawada. He assured the public that he would still advocate for the city’s betterment in various capacities. “”Although I am stepping far far from the political arena, my dedication to Vijayawada stays strong. I will keep to assist and recommend for the betterment of Vijayawada in any manner I can,” he declared.

Reflecting on His Political Career

Nani took a moment to reflect on his political career, sharing his gratitude for the experiences and support he received. “My heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me in my political journey. As I circulate directly to the subsequent chapter, I bring with me loved recollections and precious experiences,” he said. Known for his straightforward approach, Nani’s tenure as an MP was marked by significant infrastructure projects, including the Kanaka Durga Flyover at Durga Temple and the Benz Circle Flyover.

Contributions and Service Activities

Beyond infrastructure, Nani also contributed to various social service initiatives. In partnership with Tata Trust, he provided RO drinking water facilities to the residents of G Konduru and Tiruvuru and organized special medical camps in these areas. His efforts significantly improved the quality of life for many constituents, demonstrating his commitment to public service beyond the political sphere.

Future of the Kesineni Political Legacy

Following his electoral defeat and subsequent retirement announcement, Nani met with YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his Tadepalli camp office. While Nani has decided to exit active politics, it is anticipated that his daughter, Kesineni Swetha, will continue his political legacy. Swetha’s involvement may signal a new chapter for the Kesineni family in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape.

Conclusion

Kesineni Nani’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in Andhra Pradesh politics. His dedication to infrastructure development and public service has left a lasting impact on Vijayawada. As he steps away, the political baton is expected to pass to his daughter, Kesineni Swetha, ensuring that the family’s commitment to the region’s development continues. Nani’s departure from active politics underscores the importance of reflecting on one’s contributions and knowing when to step back while continuing to support the community in other meaningful ways.
