On the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program Mann Ki Baat, the Central Government is bringing out a special radio program for farmers. The Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Thursday evening that this monthly program will begin in September. Through this program, scientific information related to agriculture will be shared with farmers.

It will be a program on the lines of PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat. In the program, agricultural scientists, officials, and Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself will guide the farmers about new farming techniques. Emphasis was laid on the fact that most of the farmers in the country remain ignorant of the modern farming techniques. This includes unawareness about the proper use of pesticides due to which they suffer huge losses. The objective of the program is to impart quick scientific knowledge that will benefit the farmers.

The Minister, Chouhan, shared that the plan for this came to his mind while discussing the inaugural event of the National Pest Surveillance System on Independence Day. He believes it is the duty of the government to bridge the gap between farmers and agricultural scientists so that farmers should be able to reap the benefits of modern methods and lessen losses due to improper use of pesticides. Kisan ki Baat will be held every month to inform farmers about new developments in the field.

“This shall be a radio program. The agricultural officials, scientists, and I myself would participate in that. We will give the farmers all the necessary information. Now, they don’t have to depend on the agricultural science centers. We wish to solve the problems of farmers. We want to suggest to them ways and means to increase the yield through modern innovations,” the Minister said.

Others present on the occasion included Deputy Agriculture Ministers Ram Nath Thakur and Bhagirath Chaudhary, and ICAR DG Himanshu Pathak.
