Kuki Organizations Demand ‘Special Administration’ in Manipur

Kuki Organizations Demand 'Special Administration' in Manipur

Protests have erupted once again in Manipur. The state is witnessing severe tension as people demand special administration. A mega rally took place in Churachandpur district, drawing thousands of participants who joined the agitation led by the Kuki community. This created a highly charged atmosphere in the state on Monday. The protest is being organized under the leadership of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF).

During the rally, there were loud chants demanding special recognition and union territory status for Kuki-dominated areas. The ITLF has called for a complete strike across the district. The timing of these protests is significant as they coincide with the start of the Parliament Lok Sabha sessions on Monday, making it a widely discussed topic.

While locals in the valley oppose the division of the state, the demand for special administration in Kuki-dominated regions is becoming a focal point of discussion. Public movements and rallies have been witnessed in major Kuki-inhabited districts, including Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal.

Protesters are urging the central government to expedite the political resolution process for the violence in Manipur. They demand the establishment of a union territory with an assembly as per Article 239A of the Constitution. Similar rallies have been held in Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, and Pherzawl districts. The Kuki community has warned that if the government does not respond, they will intensify their agitation. They are urging the government to promptly address and fulfill their demands.
