Sai Kumari, widely known as Kumari Aunty, faced disappointment as her popular food stall in Madhapur was abruptly closed by the Raidurgam traffic police on Tuesday. The closure was part of an enforcement drive aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the IT corridor stretch. Despite her 13-year tenure, Kumari Aunty had not obtained the necessary permit for her stall, and its increasing popularity on social media drew attention to the traffic issues.
The traffic police directed Kumari Aunty to close her stall for a week and suggested seeking assistance from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to find a more suitable location. While she argued that her business was unfairly targeted compared to other eateries on the stretch, the traffic inspector explained that those establishments had obtained a stay order from the high court.
Addressing the situation, Kumari Aunty expressed her frustration, stating that her husband was upset due to the consequences of media attention. Traffic police emphasized the impact of street vendors, noting their occupation of footpaths without paying rent and causing traffic disturbances affecting thousands of people. The enforcement drive continues to address such concerns in the IT sector area.
