Mayawati’ BSP extended support to Bharat Bandh today on 21st August against Supreme Court verdict on SC/ST reservations.
On 1st August, the Supreme Court gave its decision on the sub-categories in SC-ST reservation. After this decision, political turmoil has started in the country. Many opposition leaders have opposed this decision of the Supreme Court. Many Dalit organizations have objections to this decision of the Supreme Court and they are continuously opposing it.

Today, on August 21, the Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a Bharat Bandh against this. On this, BSP chief Mayawati has shared a post on X and supported ‘Bharat Bandh’. She said that BJP and Congress are conspiring against reservation. They are in collusion to end reservation.
Mayawati said: BSP supports Bharat Bandh because there is anger and resentment against the Supreme Court’s decision regarding sub-classification of SC/ST and creamy layer in them on 1 August 2024 due to conspiracy against reservation by Congress & BJP and their collusion to make it ineffective and finally end it.

Mayawati said that the constitutional right of reservation given to OBC community along with SC/ST is result of continuous struggle of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the true messiah of these classes, whose necessity and sensitivity should not be understood by BJP, Congress and other parties.
Samajwadi Party leader and MP Akhilesh Yadav has also supported the bandh.
