Modi government formed 24 parliamentary committees

The central government has constituted 24 department related parliamentary standing committees for 2024-25. The government has appointed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as a member of the Committee on Defense Affairs. In this committee, members of the Congress Party have been made chairpersons of four committees, including Foreign Affairs. Each committee includes members of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been made the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee whereas, SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav will be the chairman of the Health Committee. Apart from him, BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh will be the chairman of the Defense Affairs Committee. BJP’s Bhartruhari Mahtab will be the chairman of the Finance Committee. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has not been included in any committee.

Digvijay Singh will chair the Education, Children, Youth, Women, and Sports Committee, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing Committee will be chaired by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Rural and Panchayati Raj Committee will be chaired by Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka.

BJP leader Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal has been made the chairman of the Home Affairs Committee. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has been given the responsibility of the Communication and IT Committee. BJP MP from Mandi Kangana Ranaut has also been made a member of this committee. At the same time, BJP MP from Meerut Arun Govil will be a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. BJP leader CM Ramesh has been appointed the chairman of the Committee on Railway Ministry Affairs.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is appointed to Communications and IT panel. Arun Govil, who played the role of Ram in the Ramayana serial, has been made a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. BJP leader CM Ramesh has been appointed the chairman of the Railway Affairs Committee.
