In the film industry, an actor needs to take on various roles to gain recognition and build a good reputation. Sometimes, this means playing characters that may not suit their age. Recently, actor Ajay Ghosh has taken such a bold step. Known for his roles as a villain and comedian in Tollywood, he has now come before the audience with the film ‘Music Shop Murthy’. Alongside him, Chandini Chowdary plays a key role in this movie, which was released on June 14. Let’s see if these two managed to impress the audience in this review.

Murthy (Ajay Ghosh) operates a music shop in Vinukonda, where he rents out cassettes and sets up sound systems for events. His wife (Amani) works alongside him to sustain their life. She frequently argues with him, suggesting they sell the music shop and start a cell phone shop instead. However, after a certain incident, Murthy vows to become a DJ. On the other hand, Anjana (Chandini) also dreams of becoming a DJ, but her father (Bhanu Chander) disapproves, going so far as to break her DJ console. While getting it repaired, Murthy and Anjana develop a friendship. Murthy agrees to fix the equipment only if Anjana teaches him how to DJ. Did she teach him? Did Murthy become a DJ? What challenges did he face in Hyderabad? To find out, you’ll have to watch the movie.

The director piqued interest in the movie with the story of a 50-year-old man aspiring to become a DJ. Though the first 10 minutes of the film are slow, it picks up pace afterward. The director has crafted an excellent narrative around Murthy’s struggles to become a DJ, his wife’s conflicts, and middle-class relationships. In the first half, Murthy and Chandini’s introduction, their struggles to become DJs, and intermittent comedy keep the story moving. By the interval, an emotional touch creates interest among the audience. The second half interestingly portrays how Murthy becomes a DJ. The climax evokes tears with its emotional scenes. Overall, Music Shop Murthy can be said to mesmerize.

Ajay Ghosh is the main pillar of this film. Having acted as a villain and comedian until now, he impresses in the lead role of Murthy. He breathes life into his character, convincingly portraying a 50-year-old middle-class man and his transformation into a DJ. Chandini Chowdary also captivates with her acting. Bhanu Chander and Amani did justice to their roles.

Technical Aspects:

The camerawork by Srinivas Bejugam is impressive. The background score is a major plus point for this film. Director Shiva has succeeded with his first movie. The production values match the story’s needs.
