Before assembly elections, it is common for new political parties to emerge, often one or two in each state. Recently, this trend is being seen in Jharkhand as well. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren, a senior leader from the JMM party, has launched a new party.
As the assembly elections approach, the political landscape in Jharkhand is rapidly changing. Champai Soren, a prominent leader from the JMM and former Chief Minister, has parted ways with the party. The main reason behind his decision is believed to be the lack of priority given to him within the party after his tenure as Chief Minister. This has led him to the decision to start his own party, according to internal sources.

After his fallout with the JMM, Champai Soren headed straight to Delhi. Initially, there were reports that he might join the BJP. However, it seems he decided to launch a new party instead, as it was perceived that the BJP’s victory would be easier if he didn’t. Now, the question arises: Does Champai Soren’s new party have the strength to win? It’s difficult to say, as there have been many instances in the past where senior leaders in Jharkhand started new parties but couldn’t sustain them, eventually merging with other parties. Champai Soren had a close association with former Chief Minister Shibu Soren during the movement for the formation of Jharkhand.
Champai Soren has the experience of winning the MLA seat from Sarai-kela seven times. With the Soren community being a significant population in Kharsawan district, opposition parties believe that the ruling party might face setbacks. Although Champai Soren, who comes from a farming family, enjoys a certain level of admiration among the people of the district, it remains to be seen how much that translates into votes.

In the upcoming elections, Champai Soren is reportedly aiming to form an alliance with the BJP to secure more seats. He believes that if the government is formed, he will have the proper priority. This appears to be the motivation behind his decision to establish a new party.
Whether Champai Soren, who has earned the title of ‘Tiger’ in Jharkhand politics, will be successful in this new venture remains to be seen. He has expressed that he has considerable support and sees this as a new chapter in his life. He has also mentioned that if he finds a good companion on his journey, he will move forward with them.
