In an interview recently, Imtiaz Ali broke the surprise bubble by disclosing some real exciting facts related to the casting for his Highway. He said that he had initially visualized Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the lead role. He further shared that he had approached Aishwarya for the part, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the collaboration did not materialize.

It was then that Imtiaz came across Alia Bhatt’s earlier work, and he was in awe of the potential she possessed. He cast Alia Bhatt in the role of Veera since he felt that she would do justice to the character and evoke the right emotions, more so about the story itself. It turned out to be one of the most important decisions concerning the film because Alia’s acting turned out to be one of the biggest positives of the movie, which really helped the film become successful.
