Online passport services will be disrupted for five days. These services will be temporarily suspended from the night of August 29.
The government has said that online passport application services will be closed for the next five days. No new appointments are scheduled during this period. Pre-booked appointments will also be rescheduled. To this extent, the services will be stopped for five days from August 29 i.e. Thursday night.
‘Passport Seva Portal will be down for technical maintenance from Thursday 29th August 2024, 8pm to Monday September 2nd, 2024 at 6am.

System will not be available for MEA/RPO/BOIs to citizens during this period. /ISP/DoP/Police Authorities Appointments already booked for 30th August 2024 will be rescheduled accordingly. We will inform the applicants about this.’ This is stated in the Passport Seva Portal.
Passport Seva Portal is used to book appointments at centers across the country to apply for a new passport or renew a passport. On the day of appointment, applicants must reach the passport centers. They have to provide their documents for verification. This is followed by police verification.
Then the passport will reach the applicant’s address . For this applicants can opt for normal mode in which the passport will reach the applicant in 30-45 working days.
