Pakistan is grappling with severe poverty, economic collapse, and sky rocketing prices of essential goods. The price of a liter of petrol has soared to between 200 and 300 rupees. The cost of basic food items like milk, eggs, chicken, and mutton has quadrupled. Unemployment is rampant, and the country’s economy is in shambles. In addition to these challenges, terrorism is on the rise, and inflation is worsening daily. The poor are struggling even to afford basic wheat, their staple food, as its price has soared, making it difficult for them to put even a simple meal on the table.

Nature’s Wrath

As if these hardships weren’t enough, nature has also turned against Pakistan. The country is trapped in a web of crises. Amid this chaos, a new issue has arisen in the Pakistani Parliament—rats and rodents have been gnawing at valuable files and documents. In response, the government decided to raise cats within the Parliament premises to control the rodent problem. They even hired an employee to take care of the cats, with a monthly salary.

Although people in Pakistan struggle for basic necessities, the government has made arrangements to provide expensive milk for the cats. Moreover, in this year’s budget, the Pakistani government allocated a whopping 12 lakh rupees specifically for caring for these cats. Cats are even specially trained to catch rats. However, this decision has sparked public outrage, with many criticizing the government for its bizarre solution.

Public Outrage

This issue has become a hot topic in Pakistan. Civic groups are angered, demanding alternative solutions to the rodent problem. They question why the government is spending money on cats while people can’t even afford to drink milk, and essential goods are becoming unaffordable. The public warns that if the government continues to neglect their welfare, it will pay a heavy price. They urge the government to wake up before the situation escalates into civil unrest.
